My Birthday Wish

This will be the last week I am reporting to work. Come next week onwards, I will be resting at home. My hands and feet are very swollen these 2 days....I hope this is not the sign....I really hope Kaden can tahan till after the 9th day of CNY so that it makes it easy for everyone. Firstly, my mother as she is a buddhist (actually I think she is more taoist, anyway she said she's buddhist :p), she will have to offer prayings to the "tian gong" on the 9th day of cny so if Kaden pops before that, she will not be able to visit me or him until she has done the praying...

Secondly, my 31st birthday falls on CNY eve this year. I hope I will be able to spend it with my family at home or anywhere except the hospital ward or the delivery suite.

Thirdly, I am not so sure if the confinement auntie will be able to make it to Singapore if I give birth so much earlier than expected as the due date is about 2 weeks+ from now. It will be very troublesome if she cant so hopefully I will not get a chance to get into such situation...

So...pls pls Kaden good boy pls tahan a bit longer...till the 9th day of CNY at least ok?

Baby at 36weeks+

I had my prenatal checkup last Saturday, the commencement of my weekly checkup as I approached the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. Went alone as hubby and family had gone back to Labis to collect some of the baby and confinement stuff we didn’t manage to squeeze into the car during the last trip back. Yah, so I was home alone on Friday.

At 36weeks+, it was challenging for me to move around on my own without my bodyguard (aka hubby). Luckily, the same morning my sister had to send her younger son to Thomson Plaza for tuition and so I got a free ride from her. She's really my saviour! Hehe…

As usual, Dr Goh did the scanning to check on the baby's growth. Baby was estimated to be around 2.7-2.8kg, about 200g heavier than previous visit. I was 73.1kg and put on about 800g, so which means 200g went to baby and 600g went to me..ohoh…

I also got my hospital admission letter for just-in-case and another letter to apply for my maternity leave. This time, I am starting my maternity leave about a week earlier than my previous pregnancy. Maybe because I am getting old already, I get tired easily, both physically and mentally. Also, I will like to spend some time with Trenyce before I get too occupied with Kaden's arrival and neglect her. Little girl asked me a question yesterday, "Mummy, you have two babies ah?" I said,"Yes, one big baby and one small baby. Who is the big baby?" She answered,"Me is the big baby and Kaden is the small baby." and gave me a very happy smile. Oh, my adorable Trenyce! :)

Visiting Little Kendrick

We went to visit little kendrick 2 Sundays ago with a bunch of my ex-colles. Little Kendrick was so wide awake. According to his mummy, he seemed to know that there were visitors in the house and so wanted to 'KPO' abit and refused to oaroar though he kept yawning…hehe so cute.

Looking at Kendrick reminded me of the times when Trenyce was just borned. Really missed those baby's times….now I am looking forward to Kaden's arrival to revive the old feeling :p Sounded a little silly. But I really enjoyed looking after the baby…though its more tiring, everyday is a new experience for both Trenyce and myself..especially when you are able to be around to witness her every milestone..wow, the feeling's beyond words can describe! Maybe I sounded a little exaggerating but mummies out there surely agree with me :) So I am very thankful that the government has extended the maternity leave from 8 weeks to 12 weeks. The extra 4 weeks have been spent very meaningfully. In fact, I am one of the first batch of mummies to enjoy this privilege.hehe....

Kaden Kaden.....when will you be arriving?

Baby at 35weeks+

Went to see Dr Goh this morning. As usual, Dr Goh did the scanning to check on the baby's general growth. Baby's still down but not engaged yet. He had put on some weight, about 0.3kg and now about 2.6kg. I gained much more weight this time, about 1kg, from 71.3kg to 72.3kg. When Dr Goh saw that I put on some weight, he said "good, you have put on weight." I am not so sure whether its good cos most of the weight gain goes to me instead of the baby. haha vain mummy....Surprisingly, he is of the same weight as his sister at this stage. Maybe this is a sign that he could be of about the same size as his sister when he's born? Anyway, I will be having weekly visits starting from next week onwards. How time flies huh. I havent even set up the babycot yet and the room is still quite messy. Well, going to make hubby work abit harder this weekend...at least set up the babycot hehe...

Baby has been very active so far. Generally, he is more active than his sister. He kicks me very often, mostly the right side of my rib cage and is making me rather uncomfortable. But when he doesnt move, I get worried wondering if he is doing well inside haha. Very confusing but I guess I just need to bear for another 4weeks more.

Kaden, Kaden...I look forward to see you soon.....*muacks*

Crawling totwards my final lap

As I approached the final lap of my pregnancy, I observed alot of symptoms which I had not experienced in my previous pregnancy. Perhaps its really true that each pregnancy is different in its own...and all the more so, when this is a boy and the previous one is a girl.

The water retention this time round was much worsen than my first pregnancy. I dont remember I have much problem with water retention then. This time, not just my feet are getting swollen (I have gone up 2 shoe sizes already, from size 7 to size 9, and I suppose it may increase again!), my hands are equally swollen. At first, I was wondering why I have been feeling numbness in my hands, especially in the morning when I just woke up....checked with gynae then I knew it was due to water retention.

I am also having much difficulty sleeping at night. I would wake up at least twice every night for toilet visits. Not sure if its becos this is my 2nd pregnancy and the vagina is "looser" so tend to visit toilets more frequently this time round. Even during the daytime, I have difficulty walking around too.....sometimes I could really feel the baby pressing on my bladder and could hardly walk. If you have seen a penguin walking, I think I really look like one now.

I also experienced leg cramps a few times during my sleep which was more severe than previous pregnancy. It was so painful I have to limp.

Eating wise, I dont really have special cravings and dont really into eating. Most of the times, I am eating for the sake of eating cos I am hungry! haha.... Indigestion has also returned. Sometimes, if I eat a little too much, I would even get the nausea feeling.

I suppose this CNY is going to be very challenging for me. I dont suppose I will be inviting friends to my place this year...cos I really dont have the energy to decorate the house, and going from places to places to get the cny goodies has proven to be too much for me. I just went shopping with my mother last Sunday to get some of my confinement dried stuff and also some cny goodies at Rocher Rd. Wow, its really crowded and warm till I could hardly breathe! When I got home, I am so tired that I just want to ly down and rest on the bed :P

Baby at 33 weeks+

Went to visit Dr Goh on 5th Jan, it was our 12th visit. As usual, Dr Goh did all the necessary. The scan shows that the baby’s head is still down. Thats good. Hope he will continue to maintain at that position. Baby is estimated to be about 2.3kg, up by about 0.8kg while I only gained 0.7kg, from 70.6kg tp 71.3kg. The weight gain was not as much as I expected it to be. I thought the gain would be quite a fair bit since I had so much feasts during the Xmas season....Anyway in total, I have gained 13.3 kg till date. Next medical appointment is changed from 3weekly to bi-weekly.

Coincidentally, I met Tabitha and her hubby again. This was the last time I met her at the clinic before she deliver. And true enough, she delivered just 2 days after we met. Little Kendrick finally decided to pop into the world at 7.29am, 7th Jan08. Glad that hers was a smooth delivery. Received an sms from her at 3+am that she was warded then at 8+am received another sms that she had delivered! Hers is a VERY natural delivery. She actually got all the symptoms - abdominal pain, brown discharge, waterbag burst, hurried to hospital, and finally delivered….When I delivered Trenyce, mine is an induced natural delivery. Still natural birth but instead of waiting for waterbag to burst..I was on water drip to “induce” Trenyce to come out….hehe

Hope this time round mine will also be as smooth as hers! God bless me!
