Kaden having diarhorrea (24th-28th May 2010)

Poor Kaden, duno for what reason he started to have diarrhoea.....
Could it be the food he ate? Forgot to wash hands before eating? Oh well, for whatever reasons, I just hope that this will never ever happened again! Just this once will do!

Brought him to see paed and he prescribed him some diarhorrea relieving medication in powdery form, to be mixed with water when consume. My $100 bill flying again....

Dear Lord, please watch over my little active fellow..pray that he will have good health! Amen! Mood: Worried Milestone: 15 months old

Happy 2nd Birthday to Kaden! (22nd Feb 2010)

How time flies...Kaden is two! Last year same time, I was cooking storm in the kitchen for his birthday party with a big tummy and now he is two. I remembered he just mastered the skill of walking then and hence he walked like a humpty dumpty..now he can jump, hop and run very fast....and he speaks very well too. He also amazes us every now and then with his new vocabulary. Sometimes it really 'entertains' us cos he speaks like an adult...haha..

The only two things that worried me and hubby - pacifier and toilet training. Hubby set two 'performance targets' for my boy, firstly to get rid of the pacifier habit and secondly to be diaper free during daytime. He seems a sucker for pacifier, hence I know its not going to be easy. As for toilet training, he is currently doing his 'big business' in the potty, whats left is just to train him to pee in the toilet.I suppose achieving the latter will be much easier and faster for him!

Birthday Outing (18 Feb 2010)
Anyway, for his birthday outing this year...we didnt go to the zoo instead we went to see the dinosaur exhibition which is located besides Jurong Bird Park. It was a funny experience. Though the dinosaurs arent scary (actually very crappy), its enough to scare the wits out of the kids. It took them a while to realise that they are fake. These are actually the dinosaur mockups used in hollywood filming.

The kids finally let go of their fear at the end of the exhibition. See Kaden trying to 'scare' the dinosaurs.

Some of the mockups are really huge. See the comparison in height between Kaden and the dino behind him.

The kids trying the gadget to control the movement of the dino.

Celebration with Cousins (21 Feb 2010)
We have two cake blowing sessions for Kaden. One with his cousins and one at home. Managed to have an impromptu celebration with his cousins as there was a gathering for cny. We got both cakes from Bakerzin, a caramel cheese cake and a cookies & cream cheese cake.

Celebration with Family (22 Feb 2010)
We had the cookies & cream cheese cake on his actual birthday...I personally prefer this than the caramel flavor.

Kaden goes swimming! (10th Jan 2010)

Finally after a longlong time, we brought Kaden to swim...on Trenyce's swimming lesson day. He loves playing water with his father. Diving into the pool several times like he's a professional when he's just an amateur when it comes to swimming. He barely knows how to float....keke

Am glad that he has fun and enjoyed his swimming playtime with his daddy. Great activity for bonding!

Hand Foot Mouth Diease (5-13th Oct 2009)

I got a shock of my life when the paed announced that Kaden has contracted HFMD. It started on Monday when he had mild fever but he recovered from it very quickly the very next day after having only 2 doses of panadol syrup. On Tuesday night, when hubby was changing Kaden into pajamas….he saw all the ‘bubbles’ and rashes all over his nappy area. We were stunned. The first thing that came to our mind is if that is chickenpox but that certainly doesn’t look like chickenpox! Insect bites? FIL concluded that it was some insect bites after taking a look at his buttock. We started applying papaya cream at his affected area diligently and at the same time searching our brain for any possible reasons for the unidentified rashes. On Wednesday, MIL and FIL came up with another possible reason – fish, was it the fish that he had eaten was ‘poisonous’? I told MIL it was impossible bcos those were the fishes he had been eating all along, I did not introduce new fish species in his diet. On Thursday, realizing that we are unable to identify the problem source…we decided to bring him to see Uncle Anthony. So imagine the shock we got…especially since he has not even attended playgroup or childcare!

Not without doubt, Trenyce got it as well. Since they have been playing together all the while and we did not isolate them. Trenyce had mild fever on Wednesday morning and like Kaden, she recovered from it very quickly, also after taking only 2 doses of panadol syrup.

Luckily, little Kayleen did not contract the diease. We quarantined her in the room. The kids and their caretaker (MIL) are not supposed to enter the room where Kayleen is sleeping as that is her only roaming area. Trapped in her own room for a good 6 days before she could get close to her siblings. This is also when I truly realized the goodness of breastmilk. I believe it is the breastmilk she has consumed all along prevented her from getting the diease!

All in all, their HFMD were considered mild. Kaden, the carrier, had the most 'bubbles' appeared on his buttock, some on his mouth, hand and feet. No wonder he complained 'mouth pain pain' but we dissolve his complain thinking that its impossible for him to have mouth ulcers since he did not consume anything spicy or fried. Trenyce only had 2 littler red dots appeared on her feet, one red dot on each foot and also with mild mouth ulcers.

Really thank god that theirs was a mild case. I have seen worst from the MOH website. It certainly looks many times more scary.

Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have bestowed to the family little ones. Amen. Mood: Sad Milestone: 20 months old

Chatty Kaden

Little Kaden has been 'talking' alot recently. He expanded his vocabulary by another two words just 2 days ago. It was "No" and "Kaka" (meaning sister in malay). He will even shake his head when he says "No"..haha. He is also able to call Ester, our domestic helper, "Kaka" these few days and when he hears me mentioning Ester's name, he will shout 'ka ka' after me. Sometimes he will even walk to the kitchen and call her......the whole family is so amused by his reaction...haha...

His 'talking' milestones
His initial first words was 'mum mum' meaning food and 'ah ma' meaning grandmother and for the first few months when he started to babble, he would refer everything as "ah ma" but strangely, not 'mum mum'. Hmmm...interestingly, he is able to associate 'mum mum' as food and nothing else.

Occasionally, he would call me "mom mom" meaning mother, but it wasnt very often =( Then he learnt to call Trenyce as 'jiejie'.

The next word he learnt was 'there'. If you asked him where is ah ma? He will say "there" and point his finger at ah ma. Likewise, if you asked him, for example, "where is the fan?", he will point at the fan and says "there!"

Just two weeks ago, he started calling 'papa' or 'da da' and his pronunciation is getting better everyday and now he can call 'papa' very loud and clear!

And finally, about a week ago, the grandfather finally had his turn to be called. Kaden finally calls the grandfather 'gonggong' hehe!

No wonder people says the 2nd kid usually learns things faster because they get to imitate their siblings. And they really imitate very well! ;)

Kaden弟弟 is sick

25th -29th Mar 2009, WEDNESDAY to SUNDAY, SINGAPORE

Kaden弟弟 was not feeling well for the past few days. He was down with mild fever due to teething. Although the western doctors do not believe that teething will cause fever, it really was indeed the case. It started on Wednesday when hubby and myself discovered that his forehead was a little warmer than usual. We alerted MIL to keep an eye on him as the fever is behaving like yoyo, going on-off. This went on for about two days and on Friday, MIL announced that Kaden 弟弟 was having fever and had given him a dose of panadol syrup. This syrup can only be given maximium 3 times per day, every 6hourly.

Poor boy having 4 teeth (2 upper & 2 lower) erupting at the same time. He must be under a lot of pain, so uncomfortable that the usual cheery 弟弟 is now a very grouchy boy. I quickly boiled Lingyong (羚羊水)and barley water for him over the weekend, hoping to help him ease the fever. Luckily, the fever ceased on Sunday but another illness striked the next day!

30th Mar – 3rd Apr 2009, MONDAY to FRIDAY, SINGAPORE

We noticed Kaden弟弟 was coughing on Monday morning. It got worst in the night as he kept coughing almost every other hour. It was so bad that it disrupted his sleep and as a result, he couldn’t sleep very well. I didn’t sleep the whole night as well as he was extremely irritable by the cough and I had to pacify him to sleep. This went on the entire night and by the time dawn came, I had to prepare for work. Nevertheless, I dragged my feet to work. I was so zombie man!

His cough turned worst on Tuesday morning and we decided to bring him to the pediatrician if his cough did not improve by the time we return home. Well, we had to bring him to see the pediatrician afterall. Made an appointment at 7.15pm, it was the earliest timeslot we could get. We didn’t even get a chance to have our dinner and had to leave immediately for the clinic when we reached home.

We waited at the clinic for almost 45mins before its finally our turn. Dr Anthony from ABC examined Kaden弟弟 and he concluded that Kaden弟弟 had caught the flu bug. His coughing was caused by the mucus that he couldn’t dispel since he neither knows how to blow nose nor spit the phlegm. But it wasn’t serious so he doesn’t have to go through the ‘face mask’ to relieve the phlegm in case it ‘clogged’ his lungs. As usual, it was another sleepless night for me…..

I went on child mc the next day cos I am going to pengsan (meaning cant take it anymore in hokkien) already. Im severely lack of sleep. Its very unhealthy for a heavily preggy to go on sleepless nights. Well, no choice. True enough, I fell sick due to lack of sufficient rest even the 1-day child mc couldn’t help to replenish the lost sleep. I was down with running nose and cough for the next couple of days. Its very troublesome for preggy to fall sick as it will take a long time to recover cos basically there’s no medicine to take (无药可救) and I have to rely on ‘inner self’ (靠自己) to recover. Well, its not the first time anyway............

Kaden Turns One!

We celebrated Kaden's birthday last Sunday. Just a simple gathering with some of my close relatives. Luckily I got my mom to help prepare the curry chicken and sis for the fried chicken wings otherwise I really duno how to handle the cooking alone LOL There wasnt really alot of dishes leh but its enough to make this preggy so wore out! Cooking the 6 packets of beehoon is a killer! My legs ached the entire day after the cooking. My advice to preggy moms, pls dont attempt cooking that many packets of beehoon yah or you will regret =p

Anyway, am very thankful that everything went smoothly and bet the kids are the ones who have a great time messing up my place with all the toys scattering around hahaha. Thank you everyone for coming to the birthday party, and your angbaos and presents! Xiexie!

The Sesame Street Scene Setter (Yay, I finally gotten my Sesame Street partyware! Couldnt find a mickey mouse theme birthday cake and so decided to settle for sesame street theme. We also notice that Kaden prefers elmo over mickey. Sorry mickey, next time maybe when I have the energy to look for mickey figurines to put on the cake =p)

Liked this two-tier birthday cake from pg. First tier is the popular black forest flavor (meant for children) and 2nd tier is their famous lychee martini flavor (meant for adult). I personally prefer the black forest flavor and so is hubby.

Kaden is walking!

Victory (more like cheeky;)) smile! Glad that he finally make it to the hall from the study room on his own hehehehe ;p

Yay Kaden is finally walking! We noticed he waddles alot recently from table/chair to table/chair. Though he is only making small little steps now but its a significant milestone of his life. Just 2 days before his birthday, he actually walks on his own for quite a distance, that is without any support....he can practically walk from the daybed (our so-called sofa) to our study room, at times he could even manage to walk to the grandparents' bedroom! Wow! Boy, mummy is very proud of you leh! Well, managed to capture a few videos of these significant milestones of his!

This video shows that he is able to stand up by himself without any help or support.

These videos show him walking on his own....and manage to conquer longer distance as each day passes!

Kaden & His 1st Birthday Present

Yes its not Kaden's birthday yet and his ah ma is already very anxious in getting his birthday present for him. His ah ma got his 'harley davidson' last Saturday from Kiddy Palace keke...

In any case, since the present had already purchased...we decided to unwrap and let him play around at home. So currently its still out of bounds for outdoor kaikai. Today he already know how to negotiate with the grandparents...babbling away and kept pointing at the tricycle when the grandparents are taking him downstairs for their usual evening stroll. Boy, you learnt fast eh!

Kaden has more teeth coming.....

We noticed Kaden having a baby tooth in the lower mouth. Its his 8th teeth till date!

Kaden's teething milestones

At 4.5mo, his first two lower central incisors sprouted.

At 5.5mo, one more lower lateral incisor sprouted.

At 6mo, two upper lateral incisors sprouted. Not the middle ones which are usually the first to come out but the exact left and right from the middle.

At 6.5mo, the two middle upper central incisors sprouted.

At 7.0mo, the 4th lower lateral incisor sprouted......

Now at .08mo, he has his first set of eight baby teeth and we also noticed that his drooling has reduced. This, in a way, has helped to improve his teething rash condition.

Baby Teeth Growing Order

This is the usual growing order of the baby teeth. Interestingly, Kaden is one of those who doesnt follow this sequence :p

Kaden on Walker (13 Sept 2008)

Took out the walker from the storeroom last Saturday. PIL got this set of walker for Trenyce previously. Hmm...now its Kaden's turn to use...still pretty new eh. When we tried to put Kaden into the walker for the first time, he cried within the first 15 mins . Not too sure if its bcos he's not used to the walker seat or he's frightened. When we tried to put him in again for the second time, he didnt make any noise and was able to sit longer!

Earlier on, MIL feedbacked to me that this boy is a very good "walker driver"...he managed to sweep some of his sister's books from the shelf...hmm in less than 5 days he had already figured out how to make 'good' use of his new 'toy' huh....haha....

Kaden sits in the walker for the first time.
Hmm...he doesnt look very happy nor excited hor....wonder why?

We had just removed the layer of plastc sheet under his feet today. PIL said its better that way so that it can help to train him to walk. Honestly, I think this boy will start walking pretty early. He has very strong legs and everytime when we tried to put him on our lap,he will attempt to stand rather than sitting down nicely.

Kaden can sit! (11 Sept 2008)

Kaden can sit pretty well nowadays. We noticed he can sit for a couple of minutes on his own when he's about 5 1/2 mo. He can be very steady if he's not distracted by objects that's beyond his reach, usually toys. He will go into his army crawling position immediately whenever he tries to reach for those objects that caught his attention.

See he is able to sit very well when he is concentrating hard on some object.

Oops, catch ya on candid camera!:P

Nowadays, we also dressed him in his sitting position rather than lying down unless we are changing his diaper. Its so much easier to change him while he is in his sitting position as he tends to struggle alot when he is lying down, and will try to turn himself to the army crawling position. Hence diaper changing can be very challenging. Sometimes its the adults who are changing him sweating away as this boy of mine is really strong. Not easy to stop him from turning!

Teething rashes

This is a picture of Kaden with the teething rashes taken on 11 Sept 2008. At that time, the rashes were still quite bad1 See how mummy and daddy not heartpained leh! Luckily at this point of time when I am writing this, he's already on the road to recovery. Less redness and less patches on his face! Phew!!!! Thank god for his blessings!

Dear Lord, thank you for watching over Kaden. I wouldnt know what to do if it had gotten worst. Thank you. Amen. Mood: Settled
