Misses my ah boy

Kaden follows my inlaws back to Labis for 2 weeks (13/6-27/6) when I was having my confinement. Although yes, without him at home, I really get to rest and recuperate....however I really miss him especially since this was the 1st time he's away from us for this long. During this period he was away, we called everyday but the little boy still doesnt really know how to converse in the phone and hence we dont really get to talk at all. *sad*

Can you understand how a mother feels when ur little boy whom u take pains to take care ignore u? Well, this is just the begining of me not going to have enough time for him with Kayleen around......sigh... Mood: Sad Milestone: 18 months old

Conquering BF

I am now doing partial (50%) bf for Kayleen. Bf really takes alot of time and effort and SLEEP! LOL

She is currently having EBM during the day and FM during the night. I managed to express about 4-5 bottles of EBM (@100ml) a day. I am now expressing at 3 to 4hrly interval, sometimes 2hrly...whenever I am free. I hope to be able to express more in the coming days otherwise wont be able to catch up with her growth spurt....and hopefully she will be fully bf eventually!

I must persevere! Mood: super duper tired and wearout

Kayleen has jaundice

As like all other babies, Kayleen also has this jaundice issue. In fact, paed doesnt encourage us to bring her home on the day of discharge and wanted her to stay in hospital for phototherapy but we insisted to bring her home to do suntanning for her ourselves. We believed that jaundice is normal for babies and with the help of the sunny sun in the month of june, we should have no problem helping Kayleen to fight this jaundice war. Her toleance level then was btw 8-9 and hers was 9.1 when discharged.

Kayleen was scheduled for visit to the paed's clinic though for review. I dont mind that. At least I get to bring my bb home and take care of her myself. Kayleen was a rather drowsy bb for the first few days at home. She could sleep for 4-5 hrs without waking up for her milk. We have to wake her every 3hrs for her feed cos dehydration will affect her recovery. I also do know that bf will hinder her recovery from jaundice so I allowed formula at night, also partly bcos I dont have much milk then. The first visit back to paed, her rating was 12.7 when tolerance level was 14. Paed asks us to go for 2nd review in 4days' time. Her rating was 11 at the 2nd visit to paed when tolerance level was 16. Paed clears the jaundice but warns us to continue sunbathing her for the next 2 weeks and ensuring she has sufficient fluid. Phew!

Kayleen 妹妹 has arrived!

My wish came true. Kayleen 妹妹 did arrived "the very next day" according to gynae =p In fact, I was admitted to hospital right after finishing blogging on my gynae visit as the contractions were coming more and more intense....from 15 mins to 10 mins interval. So I decided to give the clinic a call and was told to admit my self immediately as 3rd bb usually comes pretty fast!

I quickly called hubby, who's still buzy washing his car at the carpark, to come back and send me to hopsital. Then I went for a good shower, took my bag and waited for hubby to return. By the time I reached the hospital, it was already 4.30pm. When I finally settled down in the delivery ward, its about 5pm. The nurse checked on my dilation and announced that its already 5cm dilated. Dr Goh arrived shortly, bursted my waterbag and told hubby that I would deliver in 2hrs' time then he left. Before he left, he told the nurse to call him on his mobile to update him on any progress.

Then suddenly the room was very quiet, everyone had left the room, including hubby, leaving me alone in the room. All I could hear was my breathing and the sound from the 'laughing mask'. The pain became more intense and I could vividly feel the 'push'. Hubby came back after completing the hospital registeration. I told him I feel like pushing the bb out and asked him to get the nurse. When the nurse came in, she did some checks and asked me to 'push' slowly while waiting for Dr Goh to come.

Dr Goh came and everyone started to get busy. Everything was happening so fast that I couldnt remembered much of what they are doing. All I remembered was that I was already pushing bb and the pain was intolerable! For the first time, I was screaming and shouting while delivering. BB Kayleen eventually arrived at 5.44pm, barely an hr after I was admitted to hospital. If I didnt make the call to the clinic, I probably ended up delivering at home! Can you imagine?

BB Kayleen weighs 3.515kg and 49cm long. The heaviest amd the shortest among her siblings heh! Well, thats doesnt matter, most impt is I have gotten a healthy bb! God bless!

Today may be the day

Went to see doctor goh yesterday for my weekly routine checkup. All's well with 妹妹. Head engaged already. Dr said there wont be any weight measurement as its not accurate by now anyway she shld be +- 300grams from the last visit. Her weight was around 3.2kg then. She could jolly well ended up in the same weight range as her two elder siblings! They were about 3.5kg when borned. I asked Dr goh when's the soonest and longest will I expect the bb to pop since her head has already engaged? His answer was 'tmr' possibly or sometimes as long as one week. Tmr! Wow, sound very exciting for me...I wish I wish!

My wish may just come true today. Felt slight contractions this morning. It wasnt intense and came on-off about every hour or so. That was around 7+am. Walked to nearby market for breakfast and felt the contractions again. The contractions were closer around 11+am and came around once betw every 15 mins. This went on till 2pm. Now its coming around every 15 to 30mins. Saw a slight tinge of brown discharge in the morn but no sign of blood or anything and only once in the morn. Hmm.....
Duno...but looks like its the sign. Got hubby to standby and inlaws to bring mobile phone with them whenever they go out just in case.......Also called the confinement auntie to standby.

Did a checking on my hospital bag again. Everything shld have been packed inside already. I hope I didnt miss out anything. Shldnt I guess. The thing is this time Im packing based on experience and not with checklist. Very "gung ho" huh..hehe =p

Well, wait for my good news!

Playing doctor for the week

I am officially resting at home since Wednesday but I didnt really get to rest. This whole week I have been busy taking care of my 'patients' at home.

It started with hubby running very high fever of above 38 degrees on Monday and taking panadol prescribed by his company doctor didnt help as the fever remained at the same level for the entire day. So I quickly brought him to see another doctor which is near our place when I returned from work. The doctor gave him a stronger panadol and antibiotics. Alas, it didnt help either...his fever was at 39.3degrees at its peak. I had to resort to sponging him. I even got him to take a cold bath to help relieve the fever. When it didnt help (fever maintained at 39 degrees), I called the clinic again as its operated 24hrs. I was advised to feed hubby another dose of panadol, the normal kind, 2 to 3 hrs after taking the strong panadol. I did as instructed. That was close to 1am. Thank god, his fever came down at 2am. For the rest of the days, his fever didnt come back again but he was feeling rather weak. He had three days mc and finally returned to work on Thursday.

As Trenyce was sharing room with hubby. She was put away to sleep with the grandparents during these three days. Then on Thursday morn, the same day hubby was fit to return to work, MIL dropped me a bomb. She told me Trenyce was having fever and had given her panadol at 2am. Oh my! Her fever symptom was exactly like hubby. Her fever was at the range of 38 to 39 degrees and it persisted the whole day even Nurofen and sponging didnt help. We decided to bring her to the clinic when hubby returned from work at 7plus. Hers was at 40degrees when we were at the clinic. So high! Doctor prescribed nurofen, panadol and antibiotics. He didnt recommend the 'buttock medicine' as he said it would affect the liver and hence try not to use if possbile and usually only recommended for younger children not for children as big as Trenyce becos the dosage would be higher for Trenyce. Usually its only one pill inserted but for Trenyce's age, it would be 2 pills.

As usual, I had to play doctor/nurse again. This time, Trenyce swopped room with Kaden. She slept with me the entire night. Her fever was still high after taking Nurofen so I waited for 3hrs to give her another dose of panadol, the normal type. Her fever was down for the rest of the night.

Did I mention that Kaden wasnt feeling well too the same day Trenyce was having fever? Luckily his was not as severe as Trenyce. He had some cough in the morning when he woke up somewhere around 7+am, then developed running nose and mild cough around 9+am. Fed him some panadol and cough mixture. Thank god the medicine was sufficient to control his condition. We didnt have to bring him to see doctor. Guess he was really feeling a tad bit unwell so he was rather grouchy the entire day. Kept requesting for his pacifier and going to the bed to ly.

Anyway, very thankful that all have recovered within the week. Though Kaden still having a little cough other than that all's well for him too. I couldnt imagine if they were still sick when I had to go into labour ward to deliver 妹妹!

Praise the lord! Mood: Thankful
