Our CNY in Spore

We spent our chinese new year in Spore this year. Besides Christmas, its the busiest period of the year for me. I have to go places to places getting clothes & stuff for my family and dont forget I have an additional member this year so shopping gets more challenging. I have no idea why Im feeling less of the festive atmosphere nowadays...rather celebrating the festive is like an obligation, a routine kind of thing. Maybe Im overwhelmed with all the shopping required. Indeed it can be quite taxing shopping for 5 people and I have to also take care of their stomach as well! Nevertheless, the adults are happy as long as the kids are happy....

Reunion Dinner at Popo's house (24 Jan 09)

Our reunion dinner at my mother's place this year was on the eve of CNY eve as we have to rush back to Labis and have the reunion dinner with hubby's extended family. This was Kaden first reunion dinner. Look at the little boy's expressions. There must be plenty of question marks flying around when he was observing us, the adults going thru all the cny procedures haha. Boy, sorry you cant take all these food yet but I hope you had fun watching us walloping them. Mummy so mean hor =p Well, mummy took some pictures as remembrance so you can remember your first cny reunion dinner ok.

We had very special Lohei this year, instead of the usual white/red/green carrots combinations, we had the fruits Lohei made up mainly of the rock melon/mango/apple/pear. (Clockwise from left) The Lohei, the steamboat ingredients and some other raw combinations and cooked dishes.

The kids looking in awe at my sister spreading the ingredients over the Lohei. Its usually the first dish to begin with before we start digging at the main dish.

Having CNY Dinner at Sister's Place

Its almost an annual practice that we will go to sister's place (besides mother's) for dinner during the CNY period.

We had Korean BBQ this year at sister's place. Something different and its yummy especially the part where you wrapped the BBQ pork together with the special sauce, garlic and lettuce....hmmmm...yummy!

Trenyce posing at the auspicious plant. She seems to be able to appreciate more of CNY this year, asking me lots of questions on the "new" things she saw this CNY. She will offer her hand to shake and greet the people "Happy CNY", "Xing Nian Kuai Le" or "Gong Xi Fa Cai" :)

Trenyce with "Yi Zhang" (Ah yi's husband). Coincidently, they are both borned in the year of monkey and Trenyce's lunar birthday is the same as the uncle's english birthday.

Celebrating Mousie Year in Spore

Thanks to Kaden :p We are celebrating CNY in Spore this year. PILs have decided to go back to Labis to celebrate the CNY. I suppose they are more used to doing that in their old town rather than here since most of their friends are there. Hubby sent them over to Larkin Terminal this morning and they managed to catch an earlier bus ride back home.

Really, I miss celebrating CNY in Spore. Though I always manage to come back to Spore on the 3rd or 4th day of CNY but its just so different celebrating the eve and the 1st day of CNY here and there. Even till today, I still prefer to celebrate in Spore, perhaps for the same reason like PILs cos my family and friends are all here.

This is also the 1st time Trenyce celebrates CNY in Spore. Took some pictures of her in her new pajamas. This very nice set of pajamas is from my sister (her ah yee). She was happily posing for me in the room. My daughter also quite vain eh..hehe..err..actually I dont mind cos she's a girl...well, as long as she doesnt overdo it hehe :)

My Birthday Wish

This will be the last week I am reporting to work. Come next week onwards, I will be resting at home. My hands and feet are very swollen these 2 days....I hope this is not the sign....I really hope Kaden can tahan till after the 9th day of CNY so that it makes it easy for everyone. Firstly, my mother as she is a buddhist (actually I think she is more taoist, anyway she said she's buddhist :p), she will have to offer prayings to the "tian gong" on the 9th day of cny so if Kaden pops before that, she will not be able to visit me or him until she has done the praying...

Secondly, my 31st birthday falls on CNY eve this year. I hope I will be able to spend it with my family at home or anywhere except the hospital ward or the delivery suite.

Thirdly, I am not so sure if the confinement auntie will be able to make it to Singapore if I give birth so much earlier than expected as the due date is about 2 weeks+ from now. It will be very troublesome if she cant so hopefully I will not get a chance to get into such situation...

So...pls pls Kaden good boy pls tahan a bit longer...till the 9th day of CNY at least ok?
