Trenyce's 2006 KL Trip (Part II)

Still at the Mid Valley Megamall. Here are some pics of Trenyce. Can see that she enjoy shopping around the big complex eh :)

****************************************************************************
After all the shopping, we stopped over at one famous Ipoh Chicken Rice Restaurant. My hubby is rather familar with the area as he used to hang around PJ very frequently when he was studying in UM. Should have taken a closer pic of the bean sprouts, its fat compared to what we have elsewhere. the typical Ipoh beansprouts! My favourite! Yummy yumyum :0)

2nd Kaikai Day - Twin Tower

I didnt take much pics at the Twin Tower as my camera was having some problem with the flash. It really dampens my mood :'( We went to visit this aquarium inside twin tower, somewhere near the convention halls. Err, thats all I can remember. Other than that, I knew I walked quite a fair bit of distance to reach there. The walking to-and-fro the aquarium is enough to kill our legs! After all the walking, we were so exhausted and headed home directly.

The day ended with a simple family dinner to celebrate Matthew's full month :)
I will show some of Matt's pics later.

Trenyce 's 2006 KL Trip (Part I)

Hubby and I had a nice little break recently when my little girl went along with the grandparents for a 2-weeks getaway at Semenyih, Selangor. They were there to visit my SIL who had just given birth to a cute little baby boy, Matthew. It was nice especially since it had been a while since we both have some private time to ourselves.

Yah I know I should have been more active in updating my blog since my little girl is not around. However, work just come piling in at the same time when she is away so no choice really. Actually I have quite a couple outstanding posts. I will backdate them from 21st June onwards. Here it goes....

21 Jun06
Trenyce began her 2-weeks summer holiday. This was the 1st time she's been this far away from us for so long. Quite reluctant to let her go but cant be help. We sent them to Tanjong Pagar Railway Stn in the morning on our way to work.

This is Trenyce with grandfather at Tg Pagar Railway Stn.

For the rest of the days without my little girl, I was submersed fully into work and meeting up with long-time-no-see friends whom I have not met up for a yr or so. Long eh? My girlfriends teased me that I am back on my bachelorhood for the 2 weeks haha. But I missed my little girl terribly. Though hubby spoke to her everyday on the phone, I tried not to otherwise I will miss her even more. I told myself to wait patiently for 5th July to drive up to KL to see her.

5-8th July06
Finally the day arrived. We left house at 5plus am and by 11am, we already reached Semenyih. (can see how anxious we are to see our little dearie right?)

We spent a good 4 days in KL. Celebrated Matthew's full month, visited MegaMall/Twin Towers/KLIA/Sepang F1 Formula Circuit. I have covered all major attractions of Malaysia within my short stay. The only pity is that we didnt manage to get the tix to cross the bridge binding the twin towers. Hubby promised to come again and fulfilled my dream :p

1st Kaikai Day - PJ Area
We went to PJ on our 2nd day, visit hubby's auntie new house before we stopped over at the Megamall.

This is Trenyce with her Uncle Joshua. Dont see him so young, he can play drums really well. The drum set behind them belongs to Joshua.

******************************************
Lets move on to Mid Valley MegaMall. I love the food court there! They have very nice food selections as compared to the one we had at Semenyih :p I tried the penang fried kway teow. Bagus! The desserts, however, were a little too sweet. Hubby's penang laska was yummy too.

Our first stop was the MEGA Pet Shop called Pets Wonderland. This was Trenyce's favourite. She refused to leave and we have to hoax her out of the shop. I also took pics of some interesting displays at the megamall.

This is Pets Wonderland. Huge huh. I think we cant find any of this size in Spore yet.

This is a sportswear shop.

This is a room accessories shop. Nice logo eh.

This is a guitar shop. There is quite a huge collection.

Barney 'Live'

Brought Trenyce to watch Barney performance at Plaza Singapura on Tuesday(13June06). It was total madness! Crowded with children and parents already on its first day here!

Unfortunately, we only managed to get a seat at the side of the stage so the shots were not so great. Anyway, Barney and gang will be around from 13-18Jun so probably will go down again on Sat to get a good seat so could take nice pics for Trenyce for remembrance :p

We could see that Trenyce enjoyed herself thoroughly, sang and danced with the Barney gang. At one point, she even screamed loudly as if to cheer for Barney & his team! Mommies besides us were looking and smiling at us when they saw how sportaneous Trenyce was haha.... I suppose the cutiest moment was when she saw the Barney gang came out from the backstage one by one, she looked so stunned as if she couldnt believe the characters she been watching everyday on TV are all now standing right in front of her! She couldnt even answered me when I asked her who they were!

Bus Ride

I realize children have this funny affection for buses. Trenyce always asks us to take her on bus ride whenever she sees buses pass thru our neighbourhood. The same goes for my nephews. They will be so happy sitting on the bus exploring the surroundings.

Last Saturday, as usual, we went out for our dinner. To accede to trenyce’s request to “sit bus”, we decided to take bus 315 to Serangoon Garden market for dinner. While waiting for the bus at the bus-stop, daddy (DD) and Trenyce (BB) striked an interesting conversation:

DD: Trenyce, do you want to take bus or car?

BB: Bus!

DD: (not giving up, DD asked again) Trenyce, do you want to take car or bus?

BB: Car!

DD: Okay, then shall we go and take car now?

BB: (shakes her head) Bus…bus..bus

Not giving up, Daddy paused for a while and asked the same questions again.

DD: Daddy asked you again huh. Do you want to take bus or car?

BB: Bus!

DD: Trenyce, do you want to take car or bus?

BB: Car!

DD: So you want car isit? Let’s go to the car, okay?

BB: (almost going to cry, shaking her head) Bus..bus…

DD: Okay, daddy asked one last time huh. Do you want bus or car?

BB: Bus!

DD: Trenyce, do you want car or bus?

BB: Car! (then suddenly realized she said car again. She quickly shook her head and waved her hand frantically to indicate that she did not want to take car. Almost tearing already) No car! No car!

DD: (DD finally gave in to her) Okay, okay. We will wait for the bus, okay.

The bus finally arrived 5 mins later.

A touching story

A brand-new, free Chinese newspaper, MyPaper hits the streets today. While flipping thru the new edition, there was this article that deeply touched my heart. This is a real-life story of a mother who lost her 8-mth old. The name of the bb boy is Evens. He suffered from some heart problems and died suddenly about 9 weeks ago. As I read her journal, I shed tears many times (even though I am in the office).

Unfortunately, MyPaper does not have the webversion so I cant really share much of what this writer, who currently resides at Taiwan, has written. But I am glad she shared the story with us. It makes me realise how precious our little dearies are. To see them growing strong and healthy is truly the best gift our heavenly father can ever give us.

My date with "Tong Shui"

Is suddenly in the mood to cook “tong shui” recently. The urge gets especially strong when I recall the photos taken with my frens 3mths ago on my 29th birthday. In the photo was myself with 2 other galfrens same-aged as me but none of them were with kids or married. A closer look at the photo and it was obvious to all that I am already member of the “ah soh” club while they were not. With the laughing lines circled around my eyes and the dull, shaggy face due to lack of sleep…how not to? Sigh! So sad! :'(

I begin to wonder if its true that women with kids will need to work extra hard to maintain their “outlook” as compared to before they have kids? To be honest, I am quite lazy when it comes to these facial routines. I find it very time consuming and also expensive :p Well, guess I got to do something about it.

Then I remember the Cantonese culture of eating a lot of those “tong shui” to maintain their youthful look so I decided to try out this method. Afterall, I have a free teacher (my mother’s a Cantonese) to guide me on the cooking. So no worries! :D

Yesterday, I cooked my first "tong shui" - Beancurd skin with gingko nuts, eggs, barley. The Cantonese called it “Fu zhu” (I think). Heard its very nourishing for the complexion. Comments from my PIL, hubby & colleagues were encouraging. I have therefore decided to cook one “tong shui” every week!

Hope I am not too ambitious!

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

It was Mother's Day yesterday. It was my third time (including the time I am preggy) celebrating this great day belonging to us mothers. As an old saying said, “It is not until you are a mother yourself that you can truly understand your mother.” My mother used to complain to me that hers is the worst job on earth as she has to work 2359hrs everyday! For now I am a mother myself, I can understand what she meant by that.

To begin with, I am not lucky as any first-time mother. On top of dealing with the many “firstS” while caring for your first-born, my little gal was diagnosed with torticollis at 20 days old! Taking care of her is no longer as simple as just fulfilling her basic needs anymore. Besides the usual feeding and nappy changing, we have to exercise her neck as frequent as possible. This is tough as we have to conduct the physio-treatment on her amidst all her cries. It is heart breaking to see the young little one, who is only a month old, yelling away while you continue the stretching on her. The rest as what everyone says is history...

Today, my little gal has fully recovered and is a healthy little nutty. Though she has to go back for 6monthly checkups, she can hold her head straight like any child.

I suppose God has its way for us, the humble beings. I am fortunate and blessed that I have my PIL to help me in taking care of her when I returned to work after my 12weeks maternity leave.
The credit should go to (not just myself) but my PIL as well. You see, from here, we can see the chain of relationship. From the moment you have a child, your duty never ends.....

Little girl falls sick

My 19mth old fell sick immediately after the trip from Labis, Johor. Had a really hard time taking care of her. Not to mention the usual 24 hr standby to check on her fever and breathing (bcos of blocked nose), was also emotionally drained by her whirlwind temper as well. She became especially sticky to her beloved gong2 and mah2 (my PIL) and resort to crying at the slightest thing she was unhappy about. I cant blame her for sticking to the grandparents, afterall they are the ones looking after her full-time when her parents, us, were working. Really, this is sometimes a working mother's woes.... Mood: Heartbroken Milestone: 19 Months Old
