Full Month Celebration's Preparation

We are planning a full month celebration for Kaden this coming Saturday. It is fun surfing around for information from invitation cards, caterer to the full month cakes. There is just so many choices available...

See this cute invitation ecard I got for the celebration. You can find other nice designs at www.happygreetings.net

For the caterer, I found this very special website www.sgcateringweb.com with quite a number of buffet caterer contacts. Very convenient for someone who is out to search for a buffet caterer for their function. However, I did not get mine from here as I have already tested one caterer during one of my company's events (Delihub) and the food is good. Tried and tested so we decided to get from there instead.

We also have to order some full month cakes for our relatives and decide to get it from SweetestMoments. The very first time I chanced upon this website, I already set my mind that I will get this for my baby's full month cake. Below is the art design of the babycard attached with the package from SweetestMoments. Its like his personal namecard. Very nice hor :)

Mummy's crying!

Trenyce drew this picture of me when she saw me crying over Kaden's admittance to hospital due to jaundice. When she showed me the picture the day after sending Kaden to hospital, I was quite surprised. Surprised that she could capture my emotions and draw the picture based on what she had seen.

Me: Who is this?

Trenyce: Mummy.

Me: Oh, what happened to mummy?

Trenyce: She is crying.

Me: Why is mummy crying?

Trenyce: Because Kaden goes to hospital. Mummy dont cry ok.

Ohmy girl....and we gave each other a tight hug.

My little handsome

Kaden took this picture during his stay in the hospital, by the professional baby photographer (Peter Pan). It was taken on his 2nd day in the hospital (23Feb08, morning), he was barely a day old then. Mood: Merry Milestone: 2 days old

The new confinement auntie has arrived

After suffering for another 3 days without the confinement auntie, she had finally arrived yesterday noon. She looked like she's in mid fifities so I was quite surprised when she told me she was approaching 60yo. Surprised not bcos she didnt look that old but the agency had told me that their aunties are betw ages of 35 to 58. So have I been cheated??? I duno and I dun wish to change anymore auntie. It was too much of a drama for me and Kaden to receive a fourth auntie within a week. Besides I am only left with 2 weeks of confinement, so if I am to change another auntie again, how many more days do I need her service?

The very first meal she cooked, I had a dish of red wine chicken meat uncooked for my dinner. I almost vomitted. I am eating semi-cooked chicken meat. Yucks. Other than that, her attitude seems ok. I continue to observe her today. I finally understand why some people do not want to employ confinement aunties beyond certain age. Not being prejudiced here but if they cant help you much during your confinement then what's the point of employing her? The auntie's cooking is much better today, however, she does things very slowly until that I have to take care of Kaden myself quite a couple of times. She also cooked very slow that I had to clean Kaden myself today. Kaden had pooed and I didnt know when auntie will finish her cooking. By the time she finished her cooking, Kaden's backside might have rashes growing all over already so I decided to clean him myself rather than wait for her. When I cleaned Kaden, I observed some rashes on his lower body. I hope she has not forgotten certain steps of cleaning the baby and skipped it completely. Then I heard another quite scary thing from MIL this morning that auntie had told her her eye sight and hearing is catching up with her age. She cant hear well on one of her ears......MIL told me to watch out on Kaden myself in case she didnt hear him crying. Alamak! Guess, I wont have much time to rest for a couple of days more till I get the hang of this new auntie.

My confinement auntie has left!

Never did I expect such things to happen on me. My confinement auntie has to leave halfway before she completes the full month for me. Her family called. Her mother-in-law is very ill and is hospitalised, and may not be able to get through the ordeal so she has to hurry back. I cant stop her from going back to see her MIL for the last time so I let her go the very day itself. She has completed 10days of service for me. She left in such a hurry, I dont even have time to check with her on Kaden's habits. Luckily, I always wandered around to KPO a bit so its not that hard for us to capture Kaden's style.

The next hour or so, all I could do was to make as many calls I could find hoping to get another replacement. Finally, I managed to get one through recommendation from my previous confinement auntie, the very 1st auntie who did the confinement for me when I had Trenyce. Thought all will be settled once I found the replacement and just need to 'suffer' one night. Boy, how wrong am I! It was a nightmare. Her attitude was very bad. She couldnt take comments from us and insisted on her own way. She even told off my MIL when MIL, out of curiosity, told her the pail of water meant to bath Kaden was very cold! What's worst is she let Kaden cry until he lost his voice! My heart aches and so does hubby! The last straw was when she talked back to me when I asked her nicely to change Kaden's diaper as he had pooed first and put down whatever she's doing (she was marinating some meat) as my massage lady was waiting for me in the baby's room. We decided to let her go the very next day after just one day of service. She was rather surprised when I told her to go. I paid her for a day's service and her transportation. She was not satisfied with the amount that I gave her and demanded more! I was firm on my stand and refused to pay her any more than the amount I had given. She was quite mad and scolded me. I just ignored her. Normally you would expect this person to pack and go immediately right. Well, she didnt! She went to the room, sat on the floor and made calls to god knows who, then took her sweet time to keep her clothes (she washed about 3 bamboo stick of clothes in my house the very night she arrived as if she just came back from holiday) and took her bath before she left. It was already an hour later after I told her to leave.

Now I am waiting for another auntie to come. With that scary experience, we decided to pass whatever recommendations we have got and went direct to the local confinement auntie agency. Really got some phobia with this confinement auntie thingy. Crossing my fngers now.

Kaden is home!

We discharged from the hospital on 24th Feb 2008 noon. Kaden was barely 1.5days old when we discharged. The PD spotted some yellowness on his face and he had to go for blood test before he was allowed to be discharged. PD said he could only go home if the results came back is below 10 points. Thank god, he passed the test and happily we went home. However, a review on 26th Feb 2008 showed that Kaden had gone beyond the 14 cutoff mark (he was 14.5) and had to be admitted to hospital immediately for phototherapy. I was really sad, partly due to postnatal blues, I wept when I received the call from the PD and even till we reached the hospital, I still couldnt control myself. The tears just strolled down my cheeks. Its rather embarassing to weep in public but I couldnt bother as I was more concerned about my baby.

It was a very bad timing as hubby was away to Taiwan for meeting for those 2 days Kaden was hospitalised and I had to drive myself to the hospital to visit my little darling and to send the breastmilk. I tried to bf him on my every visit and fortunately, I managed to do so.

His jaundice level dropped from 14.5 to 11.3 on the 2nd day and dropped further to 9.3 on the 3rd day (28th Feb) before he was allowed to go home. Luckily, hubby came back from Taiwan just in time to fetch Kaden home. For the next few days, we tried to grab every opportunity to have him suntanned.
We only managed to catch the morning sun today. I hope we will be able to get the sun tomorrow and the day after and the day after the day ...etc as well. It has been raining or cloudy since the very first day he was brought home and even after he returned from phototherapy. When I looked back, it seems we were destined to send him for phototherapy in the hospital. No choice no luck with the sun.

Jiejie posing happily with Kaden.

Dear Lord, pls hold the child tight in your prayer. Pls pray that there will be sun so that we can suntan our child and may he recover from jaundice soon. Amen.
